PhilSA: Chinese rocket debris possibly fell near Palawan

The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) said the debris from a Chinese rocket launched on Friday possibly fell 23 nautical miles (NM) away from Puerto Princesa and 21 NM away from Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park.
There is also a possibility that the debris would float around the area and wash toward nearby coasts, PhilSA said.
The agency warned the public against retrieving or coming in close contact with these materials as these may contain remnants of toxic substances such as rocket fuel.
Rocket debris, although not expected to fall on land features or inhabited areas, poses danger and potential risk to ships, aircraft, fishing boats, and other vessels that would pass through the drop zone.
PhilSA said details of the drop zone were disseminated to pertinent authorities prior to the launch.
The details were also disclosed through a notice to airmen to warn against aerospace flight activity.
The Long March 12 rocket was launched from the Hainan International Commercial Launch Center in Wenchang, Hainan at around 7 a.m. (Philippine Standard Time) according to PhilSA. (PNA)
