CEBU CITY – Several vehicles were impounded by the Regional Highway Patrol Unit-Central Visayas (RHPU-7) during a road inspection as part of an intensified anti-carnapping campaign on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Headed by Police Lt. Col. Wildemar Tiu, the RHPU-7 conducted a checkpoint at North Reclamation Area where several checkpoints were flagged down.
Tiu said citation tickets were issued to motorists who were found using temporary license plates without the approval of the Land Transportation Office.
Motorists were also asked to remove plastics covering license plates.
Tiu said some motorists were caught driving with expired registration.
He said two cars and four vehicles were impounded for various violations.
Among those impounded was a Toyota Fortuner, whose driver tried to drive off when police flagged him down.
It turned out that the registration of the vehicle was expired and overloaded with nine passengers.
Thirteen Temporary Operator’s Permit and 45 citations tickets were issued, Tiu said.
