Inside the Royal Salute experience at Greenbelt 5
An immersive pop-up introduces Filipinos to rare blends, personalized gifting, and a closer look at the brand's most prized bottles
Royal Salute has brought its world of luxury whisky to Makati, opening its first immersive pop-up in the Philippines at the Greenbelt 5 Fashion Center. Running until December 23, the installation invites visitors to learn about the brand’s heritage and sample some of its most distinguished releases, many of which are rarely seen outside collector circles.
During the media preview, we saw how the space offered a surprising intimacy despite its high-gloss presentation. Guests were ushered into a tasting area where staff guide newcomers through Royal Salute’s story, beginning with its origins in 1953 as a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. The introduction sets the tone for the session, focusing on how every blend begins at 21 years of age and how craftsmanship shapes the profile of each expression.
Inside the booth, we joined a guided whisky tasting that walked us through the nuances of the signature 21-Year-Old and several other blends. The explanations were deliberate but friendly, designed for both seasoned drinkers and those encountering the brand for the first time. It offered a welcome moment to slow down and notice the layers of fruit, smoke, and spice that define its style.
Beyond the tasting, one of the most striking features of the pop-up is its display of limited-edition bottles. Many of them are not commonly found in local retail shelves, and seeing them up close revealed how much the brand invests in design as much as flavor. Some editions featured intricate finishes and decorative motifs, making each bottle feel like a collectible as much as a spirit to enjoy.
The booth also highlights Royal Salute’s approach to gifting for the holiday season. Guests can choose from personalized additions such as a leather coaster or bottle charm that comes with every purchase. Custom paper bags and gift cards are available as well, along with bottle engraving services offered on weekends. The setup mirrors the brand’s identity, blending heritage with bespoke touches that elevate the experience.
For visitors exploring Makati’s holiday circuit, the Royal Salute Experience offers more than a tasting. It presents a rare chance to step inside a brand known for patience, aging, and precision, while also examining limited releases that do not often reach the wider public.
The pop-up is open until December 23, giving whisky fans and newcomers alike a chance to explore, taste, and consider a bottle that carries both history and craftsmanship into the season.
