A female Chinese “fugitive” who is wanted in her country has been barred from entering the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.
The BI identified her as Hao Bin, 57, who was intercepted by immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last Dec. 1 upon her arrival from the United States.
“BI Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization) immediately informed Chinese counterparts, who ensured Hao’s return to China to face her crimes,” it also said.
In a statement, the BI said that “Hao is the subject of an Interpol red notice issued in 2024 for her case in China.”
It said that Hao has been charged with misappropriation of funds in violation of Article 272 of Chinese Criminal Law and faces a maximum of 15 years imprisonment.
It added that a case was filed against Hao by the Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone Branch of Qingdao Public Security Bureau of Shandong Province in 2023.
