NBI continues search for documents in Zaldy Co's condo units
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Wednesday, Dec. 3, it will continue to search the condominium units of resigned congressman Zaldy Co to look for documents on his involvement in the “anomalous” flood control projects.
NBI Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Angelito DLP. Magno said during an interview on ANC’s Headstart: “Itutuloy pa rin po ang pag-search dito (we will continue our search).”
Last Tuesday, Dec. 2, the NBI went to two condominium units owned by Co at the Shangri-La Horizon Tower located in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City.
Magno said the search of the two condominium units was made based on the inspection order issued by a Makati City court after the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) deputized the NBI to help in the investigation of Co over bid rigging allegations.
“May mga nakita po tayong dokumento (We already found documents),” Magno said.
However, he did not disclose the contents of the documents. He explained: “Ang isang inspection order ay considered confidential po muna ang mga dokumento, kung ano man po ang nakita habang hindi pa po ito naisosoli sa korte (documents recovered in the implementation of an inspection order is considered confidential while these have not been submitted to the court).”
In the meantime, he said the inventory of the documents has not been completed since the search is not yet over.
He explained that the search of the condominium units can only be done from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the presence of representatives of the court and the lawyers of Co.
If there are locked vaults found in the condominium units, Magno said the NBI will have to ask the court to issue search warrants so these can be opened.
The PCC had filed before the Department of Justice (DOJ) criminal complaints against contractors and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) over the alleged bid rigging of three flood control projects in Bulacan.
