SCRIBES visited tourist attractions in the second district of La Union province from Nov. 26 to 27.
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The provincial government of La Union (PGLU), through the Media Affairs Office, toured media practitioners to various places emerging as tourist attractions in the second district of the province from Nov. 26-27.
Around 40 media practitioners from Pangasinan, La Union, and Baguio City joined the activity called “Media Agkaysa Ronda for Information Optimization.”
The provincial government is optimistic that tourist sites and their products will gain popularity with the collaboration with media partners.
Joy Castillo, provincial information officer, said Media Agkaysa is a collaboration among the PGLU, component local government units (LGUs), and the media in support of information dissemination and local development.
Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega vowed to strengthen ties with the media as vital partners in upholding transparency in local governance and helping his administration in promoting new attractions.
“Time and again, we at the PGLU emphasize that our friends in the media play a crucial role in disseminating the efforts of the local government, so that our constituents remain inspired and believe in the essence of good governance,” Ortega said.
In the second day, the local government unit of Agoo showcased the scenic beauty of Tapao, Macalva Norte, and its culinary heritage and local products and the Holy Guardian Angels Parish.
Mediamen were also treated to some of the district’s distinct local delicacies – Tubao’s chichacorn, Aringay’s bangus, Bagulin’s Baguionas coffee, the basi of Naguilian and Bauang, Caba’s signature sweet treats known as Cabalicious, Pugo’s mushroom products, Rosario’s cassava and seaweed chips, Santo Tomas’ famous dried fish, and Agoo’s mushroom crisps.
