RTC orders transfer of Alice Guo, 2 other women convicted of human trafficking to CIW in Mandaluyong City
Convicted former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo and two of her female co-accused have been ordered transferred to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCOr) said on Thursday, Nov. 27.
The BuCor said Presiding Judge Annilyn Medes-Cebelis of Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 167 issued the commitment order on Thursday.
It said that the CIW is ready to accept Guo and her female co-accused Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon, and Jamielyn Santos Cruz.
Last Nov. 20, the RTC promulgated a decision that convicted Guo and her seven co-accused for qualified trafficking in persons and other trafficking-related offenses linked to an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO) in Bamban and all of them were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Also convicted were Walter Wong Rong, Wang Weili, Wuli Dong, Nong Ding Chang, and Lang Xu Po.
Aside from life imprisonment, those convicted were ordered to pay P2 million each per case in addition to the monetary reparations owed to their victim-complainants.
