Malacañang said the videos released by resigned congressman Zaldy Co are plagued with inconsistencies, raising doubt that he may be altering his claims on the flood control mess based on the public's reaction.
Palace Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a briefing on Wednesday, Nov. 26, alleged that Co is coming up with the videos on different days, saying "most likely, they are adjusting based on the public’s reactions.”
So it means, lumalabas, iba-ibang araw ito ginawa at malamang, at malamang ay bumabase sila sa reaksyon ng tao (If all of this were filmed in just one day, his appearance should not be changing. So this means it turns out the videos were made on different days, and most likely, they are adjusting based on the public’s reactions)," Castro said.
This, she said, makes it also inevitable to doubt whether he was truly the person in them.
With the changes we see in his appearance, it’s impossible not to wonder whether it is really him or not)," Castro said.
The Palace official noted observations on the series of videos Co have released so far, stressing that he changes his story along with the changes in his hairstyle.
She stressed that Co must complete his accounts first as she claimed that the resigned lawmaker changes his story whenever his inconsistencies are being pointed out.
From videos 1, 2, and 3, up to videos 4 and 5, his hairstyle changes so easily that every time we notice and point out inconsistencies, he can just change his story as well)," Castro said.
So all of his accounts should be completed first, because whenever we point out inconsistencies, his story changes along with the changes in his hairstyle in the videos)," Castro added.
But still, we will respond, and what we want is for him to finish his account, because every time we point out his inconsistencies, his statements also change)," Castro reiterated.
Among the inconsistencies in Co's claims, according to Castro, was his alleged conversation with resigned Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
First of all, he did not even mention in videos one and two the supposed 2022 transaction. What he clearly stated was that his alleged conversations with Secretary Amenah Pangandaman began in 2024)," Castro said.
So when the inconsistencies were pointed out, the story changed. It’s better to let him finish first because, as we said, every time we notice inconsistencies—not just us, but also other lawyers and experts who read and listen to what he says—they point them out, and he tries to fix them in the succeeding videos)," Castro added.
