The senator, a known ally of former president Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Sara Duterte, claimed her brother was already addicted to drugs when their father was still alive and his addiction eventually spiraled out of control.
According to the lawmaker, the presidential children, including Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos of using illegal drugs.
She further called on her brother to “come home” and to undergo rehabilitation.
“Hinihingi ko na tayo ay umuwi na. Mamahinga. Alang-alang sa iyong kalusugan. Kaya kung mabigo at mawala sa ’yo ang posisyon pero hindi ko kayang mawala ka sa amin (My appeal is for us to come home. Rest, for the sake of your health. We can bear it if you fail and lose your position, but I can’t bear it if we lose you),” Marcos said.
“Ayusin mo ang sarili mo. Magpagamot. Alisin ang droga sa iyong sistema (Fix yourself. Get treatment. Remove the drugs from your system),” she said.
Marcos also said she is concerned that selfish individuals have taken advantage of her brother’s condition and stole public funds.
She said the President’s drug addiction was the reason for the widespread corruption, especially in light of the anomalies in the flood control projects, which the President himself exposed earlier following the massive flooding in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
“Walang accountability, wala ng hustisya. Hindi na niya alam ang nangyayari (There’s no more accountability, no more justice. He no longer knows what’s happening),” she said.
The senator also promised to stand with her brother and continue to support him through his recovery.
“Itama ang mali. Labanan ang adiksyon. At ako, hindi kailanman aalis sa iyong tabi (Let’s correct the wrong. Fight the addiction. And me, I won’t leave your side),” she said.
