BACOLOD CITY – Fatalities from typhoon “Tino” in the Negros Island region has climbed to 101 as of Thursday, Nov. 13, the Office of Civil Defense-Negros Island Region (OCD-NIR) said on Friday, Nov. 14.
Canlaon City in Negros Oriental had the most fatalities at 20, with five missing and 42 injured.
In Negros Occidental, Moises Padilla topped the list with 18 and 23 missing and 36 injured.
La Castellana followed with 15, 10 in Hinigaran, eight in Bago City, seven each in La Carlota City and Isabela town, six in Binalbagan, three in San Carlos City, two in Murcia, and one each in Himamaylan City, Ilog, Kabankalan City, and San Enrique all in Negros Occidental, and one in Vallehermoso in Negros Oriental.
Nine were missing in La Carlota City, seven in La Castellana, six in Isabela, and four in Bago City.
Sixty-three were injured in Isabela town, five in Bago City, four in La Castellana, and one in San Carlos City.
Negros Occidental fifth district Rep. Emilio Bernardino Yulo III has asked the help of droners to aid rescuers in expediting the search for missing individuals in his district, which was severely hit by the typhoon.
Search and retrieval operations are ongoing.
