The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be purchasing modern equipment to help in its investigative functions and other services to the public.
NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Director Angelito DLP Magno disclosed the plan on the occasion of the bureau’s 89th anniversary celebration on Thursday, Nov. 13.
Magno said: “Ayaw sana natin ang ating mga ahente sa ngayon ang ginagamit pa rin ay ‘yun pong tools ng kahapon (we don’t want our agents to use tools of yesterday).”
He also said the bureau will also be focusing on the digitization of its systems.
“Ang gusto natin mabilis ang galaw ng ating mga dokumento, ng ating mga records (We want faster movement of our documents, our records),” he pointed out.
At the same time, he said the digitization of the bureau will also help its officials and personnel more accountable.
“Mababantayan natin at makikita natin kung tama ba at angkop ang mga pag-iimbestiga ng ating mga ahente (We can monitor and see if the investigations of our agents are right and proper),” he said.
He also said the NBI continues to investigate cases concerning the “anomalous” government flood control projects.
He added that the bureau has recommended the filing of several cases, and “sa mga susunod na araw magbubunga na itong mga pag-iimbestiga natin (In the following days, I think our investigation will soon bear fruit),” he added.
