The Office of the President has designated Undersecretary Fredderick A. Vida as acting secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Vida confirmed on Thursday, Nov. 13, that he received his appointment signed by President Marcos.
“I received it this morning,” said the DOJ official during the sidelines of the 89th anniversary celebration of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) at the Rizal Park Hotel in Manila.
“‘Yung schedule ng oath taking (The schedule of the oath taking) will be coming soon,” Vida added.
He said the marching orders of President Marcos are to “follow the rule law” and ensure that “those responsible and those who have violated the laws will be made accountable.”
Malacanang issued the appointment paper dated Nov. 11 designating Vida as acting secretary after more than a month since he became DOJ officer-in-charge with the appointment of then secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla as Ombudsman.
Vida previously served as mayor of Mendez-Nuñez in Cavite from 2013 to 2022.
He later joined the DOJ in 2023 as assistant secretary and later became undersecretary.
