San Ramon Prison in Zamboanga City gets PhilHealth accreditation
The San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City is the first facility of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to receive an accreditation from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
In a statement, the BuCor said that SRPPF and PhilHealth’s Regional Office IX launched last Nov. 4 the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) at the prison facility’s Minimum Extension Security Camp.
It said that SRPPF’s Health and Welfare Services (HWS) received a certification of accreditation that recognized it as “the first-ever BuCor health facility accredited as a PhilHealth YAKAP Clinic. “
“The YAKAP Program provides comprehensive health insurance benefits including outpatient consultations, preventive care, and laboratory services not only to PDLs and BuCor personnel but also to their dependents,” the BuCor said.
With the YAKAP program, the SRPPF aims to create a healthier correctional environment that supports reformation, reintegration, and overall well-being of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
BuCor said the launch of the YAKAP clinic is a “milestone” and shows the “joint commitment of BuCor and PhilHealth to strengthen healthcare access within correctional institutions.”
