DAGUPAN CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued a male beachgoer from drowning in the sea of Barangay Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union, on All Saints’ Day.
The victim was waving for help when he was spotted by PCG personnel conducting bay watch monitoring in line with “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2025.”
The PCG team, in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) San Juan, responded and brought the victim to safety.
The victim claimed he was dragged by strong waves and currents while swimming. He was trying to return to shore when he was spotted.
He is in good condition and was safely turned over to his family.
The PCG reminded all beach goers to remain cautious and alert while swimming, especially in areas with strong currents.
