Malacañang said the government's preparedness for the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day is significant and very high.
"Ang readiness po ng pamahalaan sa darating na Undas ay masasabi nating malaki (The government’s readiness for the upcoming All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day is significant)," Palace Press Officer and Communication Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a press briefing on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju, South Korea on Friday, Oct. 31.
"Napakataas po ng readiness ng ating gobyerno para diyan. Kung tutuusin po, taun-taon na nagaganap ang Undas kaya po handang-handa po ang gobyerno para diyan (We can say that the government’s level of preparedness is very high. After all, Undas happens every year, so the government is well-prepared for it)," Castro added.
According to Castro, President Marcos has already directed concerned agencies to make the necessary preparations for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
The President, who is now in South Korea for the APEC Summit, told agencies that they must always be prepared and ordered heightened monitoring and security measures during the holidays.
"Bago umalis ang President Marcos Jr. sa Pilipinas papuntang South Korea para sa 32nd APEC Summit, ipinag-utos ng Pangulo ang maigting na pagbabantay sa Undas (Before President Marcos Jr. left the Philippines for South Korea to attend the 32nd APEC Summit, he ordered heightened monitoring and security measures for the observance of Undas)," Castro said.
"Bagamat nasa APEC summit si Pangulong Marcos Jr., prayoridad pa rin ng Pangulo ang seguridad ng taong bayan ng Undas (Although President Marcos Jr. is attending the APEC Summit, he still prioritizes the safety and security of the public during the observance of Undas)," Castro further said.
The Palace officials said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has issued a directive to ensure that field offices are prepared to provide any needed assistance to passengers returning to their provinces.
The DSWD also assured that it has sufficient relief supplies, including ready-to-eat food packs, family food packs, and other non-food items, in case travelers become stranded.
The Department of Health (DOH) inspected DOH emergency tents along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in anticipation of the expected influx of passengers heading home for the Undas break.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has also conducted a market inspection to ensure that there are no price hikes on Undas-related goods. It assured the public that the DTI will continue to monitor prices to keep goods affordable while ensuring business sustainability and profitability for everyone’s benefit.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), for its par, has ordered intensified patrols in residential areas and business establishments to ensure public safety during Undas.
According to the PNP, around 31,200 police officers will be deployed nationwide, supported by an additional 11,700 uniformed personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Philippine Coast Guard.
Another 29,900 force multipliers—including barangay tanods, ranger groups, and non-government organization volunteers—will also assist in maintaining security operations.
