Ombudsman officials appointed between May 29 to July 27, 2025 asked to submit courtesy resignations
A total of 99 Ombudsman officials who were appointed between May 29, 2025 to July 27, 2025 have been asked to tender their courtesy resignations by Wednesday, Oct. 29.
The order was issued by Ombudsman Jesus Crispin C. Remulla in Office Order No. 347 dated Oct. 22, 2025.
Those ordered to hand in their courtesy resignations included two assistant Ombudsman, four directors, three graft investigation officers (GIOs), 60 graft investigation and prosecution officers (GIPOs), and 30 assistant special prosecutors (ASP).
Their Salary Grades range from SG 25 to SG 29 or monthly salaries of P111,727 to P180,492, respectively.
Apart from the 99 officials, Remulla also encouraged newly appointed employees with SG 24 (monthly salary of P85,074) and below to submit their courtesy resignations by Oct. 29.
“The courtesy resignation shall be submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman-Proper, thru the Human Resource Management Division (HRMD),” Remulla said in his order.
“Until any action on the courtesy resignations is taken by the undersigned (Remulla), all officials and employees named herein shall continue to report for work and perform their normal duties and responsibilities,” he added.
Remulla was appointed Ombudsman by President Marcos last Oct. 7. He took over the post vacated last July 27 by then Ombudsman Samuel R. Martires who had served out his seven-year term.
Last Oct. 20, Remulla said he discovered there are 204 suspected "midnight appointees" in the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB).
"I will ask these 204 people to re-apply because they still have a six-month probationary period,” he said.
He warned that if the 204 appointees who were hired last July will not re-apply, they will be treated as “midnight appointees."
