NBI arrests 7 persons for operating 'unlicensed medical clinic' in Makati City
Seven persons have been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for operating an alleged unlicensed medical clinic in Makati City.
The NBI identified those arrested as Maria Gerielyn Baris Serrano, Mariam Elias Sinallimbo, Ismayra Solayman Indao, Zurika Tegel Pasandalan, Princess Dilangalin Indai, John Lloyd San Juan Romero, and Marcian Dilangalin Indao.
It said that those arrested have been charged before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office with violations of Section 10 of Republic Act (RA) No. 2382, the Medical Act of 1959), and Section 11(a) of RA No. 9711, the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.
It also said the operatives of the NBI National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) arrested the seven suspects during an entrapment operation conducted at the Lavender Clinic last Oct. 16.
During the entrapment operation, the NBI said the suspects were “caught in the act of performing medical procedures without proper licenses.”
It said the NBI-NCR acted on the complaint of a woman who learned about the clinic through social media and underwent a thread lift procedure.
“She developed a soft tissue infection after the procedure, which was conducted under unsanitary conditions,” it also said.
It added that those arrested were not licensed medical professionals and only had minimal training from a foreign employer.
“Additionally, verification with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) disclosed that the products used by the clinic are unregistered,” the NBI said.
