Art for nourishment
Artists unite to fight hunger through charity sale at Garapata Store

Rise Against Hunger Philippines (RAHP) has found a creative ally in Garapata Store for a fundraising initiative that merges art and advocacy. Through a charity art sale, the humanitarian organization hopes to raise P300,000 for its “Pabaon Para sa Kinabukasan” program, an effort led by brand ambassador Piolo Pascual to support children in remote day care centers in Ifugao.
A cause beyond the canvas
The project taps the country’s vibrant art community, inviting artists to contribute works on paper or canvas that will directly aid a nutrition program for preschoolers in underserved mountain communities. Each participating artist may donate the full proceeds or choose a contribution scheme of 75, 50, or 30 percent.
All pieces must be wall-bound, one foot by one foot in size, and priced ideally at P50,000 or less. Submissions will be accepted until October 4, 2025, at Garapata Store in Cubao Expo, Quezon City. The art sale is until October 30, 2025.
Dex Fernandez, the artist behind Garapata and known for his vivid visual style and advocacy-driven projects, will serve as project manager. He will oversee every phase, from artwork intake to sales and post-event reporting. A memorandum of agreement will formalize the collaboration among Fernandez, RAHP executive director Jomar Fleras, and all participating artists.
Feeding the future
The funds raised will go toward RAHP’s Nutrition Program, which provides soy meal packs for children in their formative years. Each fortified meal pack costs P155 and can feed around ten children. With a goal of P300,000, the sale aims to fund 1,935 meal packs—enough to sustain daily feeding for 200 enrollees over five months.
The meals are prepared and served in the day care centers, ensuring that every child receives a hot, nutritious dish five days a week. Beyond nourishment, the program supports the children’s physical and mental development, giving them a stronger start in life.
Art with purpose
Garapata Store, situated in the creative hub of Cubao Expo in Quezon City, offers an ideal setting for this initiative. More than an art space, it has long served as a venue for creative collaborations and social-impact projects.
For the artists, the event offers more than an opportunity to showcase their work. It represents a chance to use their craft to spark meaningful change—one canvas, one meal, and one child at a time.
