NBI arrests woman for 'posting bomb threats' on social media
A 21-year-old woman has been arrested in Angeles City in Pampanga by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for “posting bomb threats’ on social media.
The NBI identified the suspect as Shiela A. Gonzales, 21, whom it described as a “delinquent high school student” enrolled at a local high school in Angeles City.
It said that Gonzales was arrested by operatives of the NBI Luzon Regional Office (NBI-CELRO) last Oct. 13 at her residence in Barangay Pandan in Angeles City with the assistance of barangay officials.
“During the operation, the Subject’s mobile phone was seized and underwent an on-site digital forensic examination,” it also said.
The examination showed that Gonzales’ phone contained a fake social media account linked to the bomb threats, it added.
The NBI said that Gonzales will be charged with violations of Presidential Decree No. 1727, the Bomb Prank Law.
It said its NBI-CELRO acted on the request of the local government on the multiple bomb threats that were made against several schools and universities in Pampanga.
“These threats were communicated through social media and the internet, but it was later determined that these bomb threats were hoaxes, and no actual bombings occurred,” it also said.
