Palace: Mon Ilagan appointed as PCO undersecretary, but not as press officer
New PCO Undersecretary Mon Ilagan (Mon Ilagan Facebook)
Malacañang announced that former Transportation spokesperson and former Cainta, Rizal mayor Mon Ilagan has been appointed as undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Communications Secretary Dave Gomez confirmed this on Monday, Oct. 13.
Gomez said Ilagan's role will be under operations, and not as a Palace Press Officer—the current role of PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro.
"Yes, PCO Usec. He will not replace Usec Claire," Gomez told reporters through a Viber message.
"Spox and Press Office Officer pa rin si Claire. Sa operations si Mon (Undersecretary Claire remains as the spokesperson and press officer. Mon will be in the operations)," Gomez added.
It came as a clarification to rumors circulating online in the past days that Ilagan has been appointed to the PCO to replace Castro.
Meanwhile, President Marcos also made new appointments in the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Based on an appointment letter signed by Marcos on Oct. 6, the President named Pedro Cesar Gabriel Atienza Solidum and Mynoa Refazo Sto. Domingo as new members of the MTRCB.
Solidum and Sto. Domingo will serve in the MTRCB until Sept. 20, 2026.
