BuCor's PDLs, personnel safe in earthquake-hit areas in Visayas, Mindanao
Persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and personnel of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) in the Visayas and Mindanao are safe despite the earthquakes in Cebu and Davao Oriental.
“Initial assessments confirmed no casualties or significant structural damage within the DPPF (Davao Prison and Penal Farm) and LRP (Leyte Regional Prison) premises,” the BuCor said.
It said that all personnel and PDLs have been accounted for, it also said.
After the successive earthquakes, the bureau said that the superintendents of the two prison facilities conducted thorough inspections “to ensure the safety and security of both personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).”
It also said that the DPPF and the LRP continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) to ensure continued safety and preparedness.
“Both facilities remain committed to safeguarding the welfare of its personnel and PDLs and upholding the highest standards of safety and disaster readiness,” it assured.
