46 hospitalized in Baguio due to earthquake

FORTY-SIX persons were taken to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center due to the earthquake on Thursday.
Forty-six individuals were admitted to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center due an earthquake that rocked Baguio City and nearby areas on October 9.
The BGHMC said most of the patients were students who experienced panic and anxiety attacks during and after the tremor.
Patients and watchers were evacuated to the garden area as part of the hospital’s emergency preparedness protocol.
Anticipating a possible influx of patients, the hospital immediately set up a temporary Emergency Room (ER) in its garden area to ensure the quick admission and management of all incoming cases.
Hospital emergency medical teams were immediately dispatched to assist in the temporary ER, while the Department of Psychiatry deployed its psychologists and psychiatrists to provide psychological first aid, emotional support, and debriefing.
The BGHMC continues to monitor the situation and reminded the public to remain calm and follow safety protocols during aftershocks.
The hospital advised other patients to go to their nearest district health centers or the Baguio City Health Services Office equipped with first aid, counseling, and other basic medical services.
Meanwhile, twenty-eight high school students were taken to the Rural Health Unit of Santo Tomas, La Union due to dizziness from the earthquake.
Twelve towns in the province suspended classes and work due to earthquake.
These are: Bauang, private and public schools; Tubao, classes and work; Rosario, private and public schools; Pugo, work and classes; Caba, work and classes; Santol, elementary; Burgos, classes and work; Sand Tomas, classes on all levels; Aringay, classes on all levels; Naguilian, classes and work; Bagulin, classes on all levels, and Agoo, classes on all levels and work in government offices.
