4 Koreans robbed by pseudo cops in Cebu City

CEBU CITY – Four Korean nationals sought help from the police after they were robbed by a group of men who introduced themselves as policemen.
Seo Heum In, 41; Oh Jong Min, 31; Yoon Seung Yong, 44; and Park Sung Min, 42, all natives of  Gwangju City, South Korea, said the incident happened past 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, in their rented house in Barangay Talamban here.
The Koreans said they were shocked when seven persons barged into their home and presented an arrest warrant. They said the intruders brandished short firearms when they introduced themselves as policemen.
Inside the house, the Koreans said the intruders took their IDs, car keys, personal belongings, and cash worth more than P400,000.
The intruders also took photos of the Koreans using their cellphones.
Before leaving, the intruders obtained security cameras installed inside the house.
Police Capt. Charisma Gonzales, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office, said the incident is being inviestigated.
“We sent a formal communication to the chief of Talamban police station so we can extract information through security cameras mounted in several areas there,” said Gonzales.
Gonzales said that the claim that the robbers posed as policemen will be thoroughly investigated.
“We will gather enough evidence so we can get their identities because it is so easy to pose as police. There have been incidents where the culprits posed as police officers,”said Gonzales.
Gonzales added that investigators are not discounting the possibility that the intruders personally knew the victims.
The Korean nationals are financers in a casino where their customers are also their compatriots.
