P1.9-M 'fake insecticides' seized by NBI

Almost P2 million worth of “fake insecticides” have been seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Metro Manila.
In a statement, the NBI said its Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) seized 13,412 canisters of “counterfeit” Bao Li Lai aerosol insecticides and 3,042 canisters of “counterfeit” Big Bie Lai aerosol insecticides worth P1,972,320.
It said the “counterfeit” insecticides were seized last Oct. 1 during the service of search warrants issued by Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 46 against the EveryJuan Shop in Valenzuela City and its associated warehouses in Tondo, Manila.
It also said that charges will be filed against the owners of the firm and its establishments for violations of Section 155 in relation to Section 170 (trademark infringement) of Republic Act No. 8293, the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
The complaint was filed by the registered owners of the trademark against the rampant selling of the fake products in the market, the NBI said.
