Anticipating a shortage in the local blood supply due to increased demand and disrupted donations, the Red Cross prepared for emergency calls. Instead, hundreds of Cebuanos flocked to the PRC Eastern Visayas Regional Blood Center in Cebu City to donate blood.
“That’s the way we should be donating blood — kusang loob, malasakit, at kapwa tao (voluntarily, with compassion, and in solidarity with others),” PRC Chairman Richard Gordon said.
