AI domination and Pixel perfection

2025 promises a transformative year for most, if not all, technology companies.  With a focus on AI and innovation, Google is set to make significant strides in 2025!  

Before the year ended, a 2025 strategy meeting was held.  Headed by Google CEO Sundar Pichai and other Google leaders, the meeting was packed with exciting highlights and ambitious plans.

Gemini AI

This year's goals include scaling Gemini on the consumer side bringing major upgrades and innovations.  The company envisions a universal AI assistant that can operate across various domains, modalities and devices.

Project Astra

Heavily investing in AI research, Project Astra - Google's experimental version of a universal assistant which was announced in May will get updates.

New AI products and services

Josh Woodward, head of Google Labs demonstrated new AI products including Jules, a coding assistant, Project Mariner, an AI-powered multi-tasking Chrome extension and NotebookLM, an AI notetaking product.

Pixel phones

Marking 10 generations of Pixel phones is the much-anticipated release of Google's first major hardware for 2025, the Pixel 9a followed by the Pixel 10.  Rumor has it that the Pixel 9a has undergone a radical overhaul in its overall design.  On the other hand, the Pixel 10, marking its 10th generation of Google's phone lineup, will feature a 6.3-inch improved Acuta display and will be powered by Google-made Tensor G5 chip.  

The Pixel 10 series is expected to include the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 XL.  Codenamed 'Rango', the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is also expected to be released this year. 

Google Pixel Watch 4

Word on the street is that the Pixel Watch 4 will come in 2 sizes just like its predecessor.  It will feature an improved battery life and a better charging mechanism.  Not much has been reported as to its chipset and other features.  But the buzz is its announcement will likely happen at the same time as the Pixel 10 phone lineup.

Android 16

With its first developer preview released on November 19, 2024, Android 16 is rumored  to be released by June 2025.  With confirmed features like Privacy Sandbox on Android, embedded photo picker, better Adaptive Refresh Rate (ARR) support, among many others, Android 16 is a worthy upgrade we all look forward to.
