Two Chinese nationals with fake exit clearances have been arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Monday, Jan. 27.
In a statement, the BI identified the arrested foreigners as Wang Changru, 53, and Cui Wen, 33, who were intercepted last Jan. 24 before they could board their flight to Hong Kong.
“They were turned over to the BI’s legal division and will face deportation cases for violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940,” the BI said.
Citing a report from BI NAIA 3 Head Dennis Javier, the bureau said “they presented emigration clearance certificates (ECC) supposedly issued on January 23, stating that they are authorized to stay in the country until February.”
However, the BI said it was discovered that the ECCs were found to be counterfeit.
“The duo were found to be overstaying, both having arrived in 2019,” it said.
