150 Bilibid PDLs transferred to Leyte Regional Prison

A total of 150 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) had been transferred to the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in a continuing move to decongest the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

“This brings to 9,427 the total number of PDLs from NBP transferred to various Operating Prison and Penal Farm (OPPFs),” the BuCor said. statement.

Those transferred arrived at the LRP last Sunday night, Jan. 19, it said.

Earlier, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. had said that out of the bureau's P9.2 billion budget in 2025, about P288 million will be utilized to transfer NBP PDLs to the bureau's  operating prison and penal farms in the country.
