Vietnamese woman arrested for 'illegally operating' a beauty clinic -- NBI


A Vietnamese woman has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for allegedly operating illegally a beauty clinic in Mandaluyong City.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Jan. 12, the NBI identified her as Trinh Thi Kieu Nguyen, also known as "Dr. Rosa," who was arrested by operatives of the NBI Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD) during an entrapment operation at the JK Beauty Clinic last Jan. 8.

The NBI said the Vietnamese was caught receiving P16,000 from undercover NBI agents as payment for Botox procedure and nano filler on the chin.

“The operatives were able to recover from the Subject the marked money and various medical paraphernalia,” it also said. 

After her arrest, the NBI said she was charged before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office with illegal practice of medicine under Section 10 in relation to Section 28 of Republic Act (RA) No. 2382, the Medical Act of 1959.

Also, the NBI has asked the Bureau of Immigration (BI) the status of the Vietnamese in the country.

It said "the operation stemmed from an information from a confidential informant regarding the illegal practice of medicine being perpetrated by a female Vietnamese national at a beauty clinic in Mandaluyong  City.”

“In response, agents of NBI-OTCD conducted surveillance operation, which confirmed the veracity of the information,” it also said 

“It was revealed that a female Vietnamese national is offering medical procedures such as eyelid surgery, vaginal tightening, Botox and other cosmetic procedures for a fee at JK Beauty Clinic (JK) located at the ground floor of Jovan Condominium Building in Mandaluyong City,” it added.
