Zamboanga City cop receives P200,000 reward for neutralizing gunmen

ZAMBOANGA CITY â€“ The City Peace and Order Council chaired by Mayor John Dalipe has approved a P200,000 incentive to Police Senior Master Sgt. Ryan Mariano who neutralized two lawless elements here on New Year's Eve.

The incentive was approved during the City Peace and Order Council meeting on Jan. 8 based on guidelines for rewards and incentives set by the body in 2023. Rules state that policemen are entitled to an incentive of P100,000 for gallantry per body count.

The P200,000 is in addition to the P100,000 reward and hospitalization assistance provided by Dalipe and Zamboanga City Rep. Mannix Dalipe.

Mariano engaged two murder suspects who were also gun-for-hire personalities in a shootout. He sustained two bullet wounds and taken to a hospital here.

He was awarded two medals from the Philippine National Police â€“ the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting and Medalya ng Kagalingan â€“ in recognition of his accomplishment.
