NBI arrests Chinese national, rescues 2 Vietnamese women from 'sex trafficking operation'
A Chinese national has been arrested while two Vietnamese women have been rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) from an alleged sex trafficking operation in Paranaque City.
In a statement, the NBI identified the arrested Chinese national as Wang Gang, also known as Kelvin Lee. The rescued Vietnamese women were not identified.
After his arrest, the NBI said that Wang was charged before the Paranaque City Prosecutor’s Office with violations of Republic Act (RA) No. 9208, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended, in relation to RA No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
It said the operation against Wang was launched based on reports that the Chinese national was engaged in human trafficking activities, particularly in sexual exploitation of women who were reportedly offered to foreigners at P20,000 a night.
After contacting Wang, an entrapment operation was conducted, it also said.
