'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty' emerges as the No. 1 favorite TV show in Korea in September

The hit series “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,” starring Yoona and Lee Chae-min, emerged as the No. 1 favorite TV show in South Korea in September. 

On Sept. 23, polling firm Gallup Korea released its monthly survey for September of the top 20 favorite TV shows in South Korea, excluding news. 

The survey was done from Sept. 16 to 18 among 1,001 respondents aged 18 or older nationwide in South Korea. 

Beginning in 2023, Gallup Korea has included shows streamed on OTT platforms.  

“Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,” which airs on tvN in South Korea, is the No. 1 choice among respondents, getting 4.6 percent. 

The fantasy comedy series has become a hit, rising to 15.75 percent in nationwide rating in South Korea through episode 10 last Sept. 21 based on Nielsen Korea data.

Gallup Korea noted that for the first time this year, there was not a single OTT original program that entered the survey although many of the top dramas such as “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” are streamed on Netflix.

No. 2 in the survey is 112-episode daily Korean drama “Good Luck” from KBS1 channel, getting 3.7 percent. 

In third place is the variety show “I Live Alone” (MBC) with 3.3 percent, followed by the 100-episode KBS2 daily drama “Queen’s House” with 2.9 percent and  “I Am a Natural Person” (MBN) with 2 percent.

6. I Am Solo (variety show, ENA/SBS Plus) - 1.8 percent 

7. Our Golden Days (drama, KBS2) - 1.7 percent 

- You Quiz on the Block (variety show, tvN) - 1.7 percent 

- Queen Mantis (drama, SBS) - 1.7 percent

10. Running Man (variety show, SBS) - 1.5 percent 

11. 2 Days & 1 Night Season 4 (variety show, KBS2) - 1.4 percent 

12. World Theme Travel (current affairs/culture, EBS) - 1.3 percent
