NBI arrests 3 persons in Olongapo City for selling land with 'fake' title
Three persons have been arrested in Olongapo City for the P2 million sale of a piece of land with “fake” certificate of title, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said on Monday, Sept. 22.
In a statement, the NBI identified those arrested as Mary Paz Felonia Leonardo, Glenda G. Olea, and Angelie V. Antinez.
After their arrest last Sept. 18, they were charged before the Olongapo City Prosecutor’s Office with syndicated swindling, falsification of public and official documents, and use of falsified documents.
The NBI said Leonardo, Olea, and Antinez were arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the operatives of the bureau’s Olongapo District Office (NBI-OLDO).
“They were caught in flagrante delicto (in the act) of receiving the entrapment money from the victim,” it said.
It also said the NBI-OLDO acted on the complaint against Leonardo who claimed to be the owner of the piece of land being sold in Subic, Zambales.
The complainant discovered that the title received from Leonardo was “fake.”
After receiving the complaint, the NBI said it conducted a verification with the Register of Deeds and found that “the title conveyed to the complainant, as well as the title being offered to the new victim, was counterfeit.”
