'Nando' weakens slightly, heads toward West Philippine Sea

Super Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) slightly weakened on Monday evening, Sept. 22, as it moved away from the Babuyan Islands, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 10 p.m., the eye of Nando was estimated at 145 kilometers west-northwest of Calayan, Cagayan.
It had maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 285 kph
It was moving west at 20 kph.
Signal No. 4 remained hoisted over the western portion of Babuyan Islands (Panuitan, Calayan, Dalupiri, Irao, Mabaag, Barit, and Fuga Islands), northwestern portion of Cagayan (Santa Praxedes, Claveria), and northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Burgos, Bangui, Dumalneg, Adams).
Signal No. 3 was raised over Batanes, the rest of Babuyan Islands, northern and central portions of Cagayan (Lal-Lo, Gattaran, Lasam, Allacapan, Ballesteros, Abulug, Aparri, Santa Teresita, Buguey, Camalaniugan, Alcala, Rizal, Santo Niño, Gonzaga, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Ana), northern and central portions of Apayao (Flora, Santa Marcela, Pudtol, Luna, Calanasan, Kabugao), and the rest of Ilocos Norte.
Signal No. 2 remained in effect in the rest of mainland Cagayan, northern portion of Isabela (Santo Tomas, San Mateo, Aurora, Santa Maria, Quezon, Roxas, Luna, Delfin Albano, San Pablo, Ilagan City, Tumauini, Cabagan, Reina Mercedes, San Manuel, Cabatuan, Quirino, Divilacan, Gamu, Mallig, Maconacon, Burgos), the rest of Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, northern portion of Benguet (Mankayan, Buguias, Bakun, Kibungan), Ilocos Sur, and northern portion of La Union (Sudipen, Bangar, Luna, Balaoan, Santol).
Signal No. 1 was up over the rest of Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Benguet, the rest of La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, and northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar), including Polillo Islands.
PAGASA said Nando will likely leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday morning, Sept. 23.
While it may still re-intensify slightly, the super typhoon is expected to weaken within the next 24 hours as it moves over the West Philippine Sea.
