Threads of memory: Conrad Manila's 'Her Hands' exhibit weaves culture and craft

Seven female artists honor weaving as heritage and identity in the hotel's 37th 'Of Art and Wine' series

Conrad Manila has opened its newest group exhibition, “Her Hands: A Loom of Stories,” the 37th edition of its “Of Art and Wine” Series, in collaboration with Space_Alt Contemporary. The show runs from September 16 to November 15, 2025, at the hotel’s Gallery C.
The exhibition gathers 34 works by seven contemporary female artists — Kristine de Jesus, Anita del Rosario, Jane Ebarle, Mia Go, Katrina Raimann, Anina Rubio, and Maria Salvador — highlighting weaving not only as craft but as memory, identity, and connection.
“Her Hands: A Loom of Stories” underscores weaving as a profound expression of creativity and cultural identity, historically tied to women who have safeguarded the tradition for generations. “Each thread woven into fabric carries not just color and texture but also the weight of history, emotion, and purpose,” the curatorial statement notes. “These threads transcend aesthetics, symbolizing resilience, unity, and the intricate connections between individuals and their cultures.”
The exhibit opening at Gallery C, on the hotel’s third level, was led by Elizabeth Sy, president of SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation; Cathy Nepomuceno, senior vice president for operations of SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation; Mia Villanueva, president of the Philippine Textile Council; Adelaida Lim, president emeritus of the Philippine Textile Council; Kaye Tinga, president of the Cultural Center of the Philippines; Lucky Ou, Conrad Manila’s general manager; and four featured artists, including de Jesus, del Rosario, Ebarle, and Salvador.
By honoring the artistry of weaving and the pivotal role of women in its preservation, the exhibit invites guests to engage with deeper narratives and celebrate both craftsmanship and enduring cultural legacies.
All artworks are available for sale through Conrad Manila. Inquiries may be directed to +632 8833 9999 or via email at [email protected]
To complement the exhibit, Conrad Manila also launched an inspired afternoon tea experience at C Lounge from September 17 to November 15, 2025. The set, curated to echo the intricacy and cultural richness of the artworks, features baked Gillardeau oysters, pan-seared lamb chops, U.S. choice beef tenderloin, pan-seared lapu-lapu, a signature C Lounge burger, eton mess, raspberry cheesecake, vanilla panna cotta with passion fruit and coconut sorbet, and roasted coconut semifreddo with a mango popsicle.
Guests may enjoy the experience, good for two persons, with welcome drinks or a pot of tea or coffee. Reservations may be made by calling +632 8833 9999 or emailing [email protected]
