A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck La Union province early Friday morning, Sept. 19, and was felt across several parts of Luzon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs reported the tremor struck at 3:52 a.m., with its epicenter located 61 kilometers northwest of Luna, La Union.
It added that the quake, tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the agency, the tremor was felt at Intensity III in Bolinao and Bani, Pangasinan; Sinait and Vigan City, Ilocos Sur; and Bontoc, Mountain Province.
It was recorded at Intensity II in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Candon and Narvacan, Ilocos Sur; Bangar, La Union; Dagupan City; and in the Pangasinan towns of Urdaneta and Lingayen.
Meanwhile, Intensity I was reported in parts of Bataan, Baguio City, Bulacan, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Malabon, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, and Zambales.
Phivolcs said no damage is expected from the quake, but aftershocks are possible.
