NBI seizes P14.5-M worth of suspected counterfeit products
Suspected counterfeit products worth more than P14.5 million were seized by the National Bureau of Investigation during a series of operations in Metro Manila.
In a statement, the NBI said the operations were conducted by the NBI National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) last Sept. 3 and 4.
“The operations resulted in the seizure of 31,597 assorted products bearing the ‘Victoria’s Secret’ trademark and 14,965 assorted products bearing the ‘Bath and Body Works’ trademark, with a total estimated value of more or less P14,520,200,” it said.
During the operations, the NBI-NCR served search warrants against 13 stores in Baclaran, Pasay City; three warehouses and one store in Sta. Cruz, Manila; one store in Binondo, Manila; two stores and two warehouses in Valenzuela City; one store in Malabon City; and one store in North Fairview, Quezon City.
It said the operations stemmed from a complaint filed on behalf of Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body Works.
The NBI did not say if the owners or operators of the establishments raided were arrested or if violations of Republic Act No. 8293, the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, were filed against them.
