IBP declares nationwide fight vs corruption

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) has declared a relentless fight against corruption as it established Anti-Corruption Desks in all its chapters nationwide.
In a statement issued on Friday, Sept. 5, the IBP said its desks will receive complaints and evidence, and facilitate remedies against corruption, particularly on the “anomalous” flood control projects and other infrastructure projects of the government.
At the same time, the IBP said it will create a Committee on Good Governance to provide impartial oversight, investigate allegations of corruption, and promote integrity in public service.
It said it is not just condemning corruption in the country. “We want to help rebuild trust by creating systems where accountability is no longer exceptional, but expected,” it also said.
It pointed out that the revelations on ghost and sub-standard flood control projects “are not isolated abuses” but symptoms of deep affliction that “distorts the priorities, corrodes the trust, and mortgages the future of our people.”
It stressed that corruptions are not mere lapses of government but “signs of a system weakened by patronage and impunity, where betrayal of trust risks becoming routine rather than exception.”
The IBP said it is committed to “transform the fight against corruption from fragmented reactions into comprehensive reform – one that is waged not as a passing campaign, but convergence of the vigilant defense of dignity and the clearest expression of love for country as the steady labor of law.”
It said that its nationwide anti-corruption campaign is in line with its agreement with the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) to enhance public service delivery and address bureaucratic abuse.
