CEBU CITY – A son of a barangay captain was arrested for possessing more than P1 million worth of suspected shabu in an anti-illegal drug operation on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 3, in Barangay Tejero here.
The 42-year-old suspect is a resident of Barangay Carreta where he works as a driver of the barangay hall, said Joel Plaza, regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7).
The suspect is reportedly the son of the barangay captain in Carreta.
Plaza said the suspect is a regional target-listed drug personality, who was cornered along Benedicto St. in Tejero 2:30 p.m.
Confiscated during the operation were five packs of suspected shabu weighing around 250 grams with an estimated average market value of P1.7 million.
Appropriate charges will be filed against the suspect, the PDEA-7 said.
The agency warned that sale of dangerous drugs, regardless of quantity and purity, carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of P500,000 to P10 million.
