DOJ to monitor in ports, airports contractors, other persons linked to 'anomalous' flood control projects
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is set to issue today, Sept. 3, immigration lookout bulletin orders (ILBOs) against 26 contractors and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who are allegedly involved in anomalous flood control projects.
“Pipirmahan ko na mamaya (I will sign the ILBOs later),” DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla told journalists.
An ILBO mandates immigration officers to monitor a person against whom it is issued if he or she attempts to leave the country, and to report to proper authorities.
Remulla, who did not name the contractors and DPWH officials, said the issuance of ILBOs was sought by newly-installed DPWH Secretary Vince B. Dizon.
He stressed the need for ILBOs since “ang tendency ng tao tumakas talaga (people have the tendency to escape).”
Remulla also said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will join the ongoing investigations on the reported anomalies in flood control projects.
He assured that all person implicated in the anomalies will be investigated and “no one will be excluded.”
