An American, who was found convicted of sex offense against a child in his country, has been barred from entering the Philippines.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado identified the American as Daniel Allan Macomber, 54, who was intercepted by immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last Aug. 25 upon his arrival from South Korea.
“Philippine immigration laws prohibit the entry of those previously convicted of moral turpitude, and this involves registered sex offenders in other countries,” Viado said.
The BI said that Macomber is a registered sex offender (RSO) due to his conviction in 2006 in the United States for second-degree sexual abuse of a six-year-old child.
It explained that convicted sex offenders in the US are required by law to register and keep their registration current in each jurisdiction where they live, work, or attend school.
With the denial of his entry to the Philippines, the BI said that Macomber has been placed in the bureau’s blacklist which will bar his reentry in the future.
