BuCor seeks upgrade on mental health awareness of personnel
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) will upgrade the mental health awareness among its personnel due to gaps in areas like mental health-related laws and support programs.
In a statement, the BuCor said that it conducted a mental health survey among its personnel last July.
The survey covered 1,716 respondents with almost 80 percent of them corrections technical officers, it said.
“The results of the survey indicate that, for the most part, the mental health awareness of BuCor personnel is relatively high,” it said.
However, it found the gaps that needed full support.
Thus, it said the BuCor is “currently developing new programs to help educate and teach practical skills to personnel in these and other key areas.”
