Globe's sustainability efforts highlighted by GSMA for the fifth year

Once again, Globe has been recognized by the GSMA in its 2025 report, "Mobile Net Zero: State of the Industry on Climate Action". The GSMA, a global trade association for the mobile industry, represents more than 1,000 companies across the mobile ecosystem. For the fifth consecutive year, Globe has been included in the GSMA's annual assessment of climate progress.
Globe's sustainability programs have been featured as case studies, for the third time. The report tracks the mobile industry's progress toward its goal of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
GSMA head of climate action, Steven Moore shares, "Emissions are trending in the right direction, but the pace of progress must now double." He emphasizes that accelerating climate action will require better access to renewable energy, clearer policies, and stronger cooperation across the mobile industry ecosystem.
"Globe's inclusion in the GSMA report shows how our ongoing efforts support long-term resilience and growth through environmental and climate action. We remain committed to contributing best practices globally as we strive to green our network further." said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
Among Globe's milestones is the launch of the first fully solar-powered off-grid cell site on Taganak Island in Tawi-Tawi in December 2024. The project delivers reliable connectivity to a remote community while supporting the protection of a nesting site for green sea turtles.
On the grid, Globe transitioned 33 of its high-energy utilization facilities to renewable power as of May 2025, up from 29 in the previous year. This raised the company's share of renewable energy use from 14 percent in 2021 to 24 percent in 2024.
As a member of the GSMA Climate Action Taskforce, Globe continues to promote sustainability practices across the mobile industry.
