WTFu by MR. FU: The singing seafarer

Right after finishing his marine transportation course in Iloilo, Jake Villamor took the role of a seafarer.(ay sana nagswimming tayo bro!) But after six years, he decided to leave this profession and pursue his love for singing and acting. (ay pursue kita bro!)

Doing live streaming became his venue for his talent. (kwentuhan and kantahan ang drama!) He got his acting jobs for two BL series from this platform (ay bakit di ako ang partner mo?!)

“Yung friend ko, nirefer ako. sabi nya gusto ko raw ba mag acting. Mag send lang daw ako ng audition video," Jake recalls. (sakin wala ka nang audition!)

Event stylist Badang Rueda also saw his potential in his live performances. (lapitin ng grasya!)  

“Dinala na niya ako sa mga events nya, grupo kami. Hanggang sa dumating  na ako na gumagawa ng permits niya, ako gumagawa ng kung anu ano. Parang naging staff na niya ako. Ok din kasi aside from my live streaming, may iba pa akong income," Jake shares. (ay pagawa ako ng permit!)

Last Christmas, Jake and Badang were tasked to arrange the Christmas décor at the house of power couple Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez. Jake had the chance to share his reels of performances with Asia’s Songbird, who immediately recommended him to the King of Kilig Songs (parang ako ang kinikilig!)

“Dinala ako ni Ms. Reg kay Sir Ogie na nasa baba. Sabi pa ni Sir Ogie sakin, sino yan, ampogi naman nyan. Tapos sabi ni Ms. Reg, huy kumakanta yan. Tapos ipinakita nya yung Tiktok ko," Jake narrates. (may Tik Tok din ako Sir Ogie!)

Ogie gave the 28-year-old bachelor gigs and offered him a management contract under his Ateam company. “Super happy talaga. Grabe tiwala sakin ni Sir Ogie. It is overwhelming.  I am really thankful kay Sir Ogie at sa Ateam talaga. It is really hard to find someone, especially ako na wala pa akong napatunayan sa singing sa acting, but then nakikita ni Sir Ogie yung potential ko, to risk his time, his money, for me. It is like a validation din for me na pwede pala talaga ako for show business.” (pwede ka rin sakin bro!)

Jake has been singing since he was four years old, but he never stops learning.

“I am doing voice lessons. Constant yung schedule. Twice a week." (may time ka pa bas akin bro?!)

He has recorded two masterpieces by Ogie and one love song by Direk Paolo Bustamante.  He is set to release his first single next month.

“It’s a mid-tempo song. Sabihin natin parang the Weeknd vibe.” (tara na bro sa weekend!)
