Rumors abound on Korean star Kim Jong-kook's bride-to-be
After Korean singer and entertainer Kim Jong-kook, 49, announced that he is getting married, rumors have spread about the identity of his bride-to-be.
On Aug. 18, Kim Jong-kook, one of the stars of the Korean TV variety show “Running Man,” announced in a hand-written message to his fans that he is getting married.
“I've always mentally prepared myself for the day when I would write and post something like this myself, but as I prepare this, I'm more nervous and anxious than I ever imagined. I'm writing this to be the first to let all of you, the fans who have always believed in me, supported me, and been by my side as a human being, Kim Jong-kook, know,” he said.
He revealed, “I'm getting married. I actually said I'd be revealing it little by little... But I'm sure many of you feel it's still a bit sudden.”
An online post claimed that Kim Jong-kook’s bride-to-be is a 38-year-old woman from Los Angeles who is a CEO of a cosmetics company.
Kim Jong-kook’s side declined to give details about the wedding or the bride-to-be.
"As for Kim Jong-kook's marriage or his wife-to-be, the agency and Kim Jong-kook have nothing to say about it other than what he himself revealed on his fan cafe. As it is his private life, we do not know the details," the star’s side said, Korean media outlet Osen reported.
About the couple’s honeymoon plans, the representative said, “We are not in a situation where we can go right away. We have a set schedule and regular appearances on TV shows, so we have no choice but to prioritize the already set schedules."
He added, "Nothing has been decided regarding the wedding or any future plans. If there is anything we can talk about later, we will make sure to give you the exact details through a press release."
In April, Kim Jong-kook bought a 6.2 billion won (about $4.47 million) luxury villa in cash measuring 70 pyeong, a Korean unit of area, or about 231 sq. m., in Gangnam, Seoul.
During an episode of the Korean TV show “Mom’s Diary” in June which aired on Viu, comedian Heo Kyung-hwan asked Kim Jong-kook about the house he bought.
“A lot of people said you were getting ready, that you were getting a house for your wife,” said Heo Kyung-hwan.
Kim Jong-kook replied, “That’s not exactly wrong. I should get ready. How can I get married without a house? I should get ready to get married.”
When Heo Kyung-hwan told him, “Congratulations,” he replied, “Don’t. Be quiet.”
