Man arrested for shoplifting to sustain drug addiction

CEBU CITY – A man admitted stealing bottles of liquor to sustain his illegal drug addiction.

Niño Rey Maglinis Cosido, a 21-year-old resident of Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, was arrested after taking two bottles of Johnnie Walker whisky from a supermarket on Tuesday morning, Aug. 19.

Investigation showed that security personnel of a supermarket noticed Cosido acting suspiciously.

Unknown to the suspect, he was closely monitored by security personnel while inside the supermarket.

Security personnel saw the suspect took the two bottles which cost thousands and tried to leave without paying them. He was accosted and brought to the police.

At the Abellana Police Station, Cosido admitted shoplifting to be able to buy shabu.

Police said appropriate charges will be filed against the suspect.
