CEBU CITY – Five Koreans wanted in their country were arrested here on Monday afternoon, Aug. 18.
The Regional Special Operations Unit, Regional Intelligence Division, and Bureau of Immigration cornered them in a hotel.

Police said they are facing charges for violating their country’s National Sports Promotion Act.
The Interpol issued a red notice to alert Philippine authorities about their presence.
The Korean Consulate coordinated with the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas that led to their arrest.
They are detained at the temporary custodial facility of PRO-7 pending further order from the court.
Consul General Song Sewan of the Korean Consulate visited the PRO-7 headquarters on Monday and handed over a Letter of Appreciation to Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, chief of PRO-7.
Sewan commended the PRO-7 for its efforts to arrest the fugitives.
“This recognition from the Korean Consulate is a testament to our unwavering dedication to strengthen our international cooperation in law enforcement,” said Maranan.
