La Union thanks donors for assistance to 'Emong' victims
The provincial government of La Union (PGLU), together with various government agencies, private organizations, and civic groups, joined hands to provide immediate aid and response to families affected by typhoon ‘’Emong.’’
Gov. Mario Eduardo C. Ortega thanked donors for responding to the province's call for unity and collaboration.

"Thank you very much for all your efforts and initiatives for our ‘kailians’ (province mates). This is the essence of our La Union Agkaysa (unity) as we remain united to surpass these challenges," Ortega said.
In support of ongoing relief efforts, Ortega, along with first district Rep. Paolo Ortega V and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, received another 350 sacks of rice and food packs from Sen. Win Gatchalian on Friday.
The Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Industry Inc., led by Consul Ren Faquiang, also turned over 700 food packs to the governor while Liga ng mga Barangay President Ex-Officio Board Member Ramon Ortega Jr. provided 200 sacks of rice.
Other donors, which include the Office of Civil Defense, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Association of Volunteer Fire Chiefs and Firefighters of the Philippines, International Pharmaceutical Inc., Koka Enterprise, 568 Emporium, San Miguel Corp., 1590 Corp., Thunderbird Resorts, Abra Diocesan Teacher & Employees Multi-purpose Cooperative, GMA Kapuso Foundation, and Boysen Philippines, also donated food supplies, hygiene kits, and medicines for affected communities.
The PGLU has distributed 19,580 family food packs to the City Government of San Fernando and different municipalities. The food pack contains six kilograms of rice, eight canned goods, and six sachets of 3-in-1 coffee.
Gov. Ortega confirmed that 73,218 food packs have been delivered to the component local government units (LGU), in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Office of the First District Representative, and United Senior Citizens party-list.
La Union second district Rep. Dante Sotelo Garcia has distributed 5,000 food packs to affected residents in the district.
