CEBU CITY – Two men were arrested for allegedly robbing a jeepney passenger in Barangay Lorega here on Sunday morning, Aug. 17.
Police identified the suspects as Vinz Niel Rayna Canucat, 23, and Arjohn Pobadora Boles, 18.
The suspects’ alleged cohort, Michael Villanueva Jr., remain at large.
Investigation showed that the the suspects robbed a female passenger on New Imus Road.
The 21-year-old victim told the police that the two men pointed a gun at her and declared a holdup.
The two suspects took the woman’s belongings, including an iPhone 12, and fled.
The woman went straight to the Parian Police Station to report the incident.
After confirming the identities of the two suspects, police conducted a follow-up operation but failed to locate them in their houses in Barangay Lorega.
Police, however, were able to get a tip about the suspects’ whereabouts that led to the arrest.
A .357 revolver and the victim’s cellphone were recovered from the suspects, police said.
Police Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, deputy city director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, said follow-up investigation showed that the two men were previously arrested for illegal gambling.
