Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said this after a WR Numero survey showed that 31.4 percent of Filipinos said they would vote for Vice President Sara Duterte if the presidential elections were held at that time.
Duterte was followed by Naga City Mayor and former vice president Leni Robredo with 13.3 percent, and Senator Raffy Tulfo with 10.3 percent.
Asked for the President’s reaction, Castro said the President is not preoccupied with politics.
“Ang Pangulo po ay concentrated sa kaniyang pagtatrabaho para maibigay ang nararapat sa taumbayan (The President is concentrated on doing his work to deliver what is due to the people),” she said in a press briefing.
“Hindi pa po namumulitika ang Pangulo (The President is not yet engaging in politics),” she added.
Castro stressed that the next presidential election is still years away and not among the President’s current priorities.
“Siguro ang eleksyon, sa 2028 pa po iyan, saka na natin pag-usapan (The election is still in 2028, we can talk about that later),” she said.
Other names in the top tier of the survey include senators Bong Go (6.5 percent), Imee Marcos (4.4 percent), Bam Aquino (3.1 percent), and Grace Poe (2.1 percent).
Senators Robinhood Padilla and Risa Hontiveros were also in the list with 2.0 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively.
